Heartbreak is hearing your daughter sob in the next room because of a boy. I guess the benefits of being the “dumper” goes out the window when your ex-boyfriend turns around and dates your good friend. No amount of mommy love can fix that.
If that happened to me, I would pour myself a shot of bourbon and keep the bottle flowing all night long until I:
(a) passed out while listening to Leonard Cohen songs,
(b) made a belligerent call to one or the both of them telling them what mother-effers they were,
(c) buy myself a ridiculously expensive pair of shoes or
(d) all of the above.
Paige can’t do any of those things.
Middle school sucks ass.

frick.
I think Im gonna be C’ing a lot.
dragging my daughter to the mall for new shoes (uh for her
that sentence was poorly structured ))
How terrible! My daughter is only four, so it’s a ways off, but I know it’s inevitable that a boy, or two or more, will make her cry. I hope by then I’ll have figured out how to handle it- both for me and for her.
I can sssooooo relate. my daughter is a junior this year. it doesn’t get any better. she was broken up via text messsage one time…guys are such loosers!! Just tell her not to let him know how much she was hurt, never ever let them know that he hurt you…good luck!!
I am NOT looking forward to those years. Even though I have boys I dread them… I’m going to have to learn the male equivalent of shoe shopping and burboun swilling that doesn’t involve pummeling fists. Middle school flat out sucks donkey balls and unfortunately, that’s not much consolation for the middle schooler.
If you learn a secret, do tell. IN the meantime hang in there and just be there for your daughter. And pass on your love of good shoes!
Happy POW!
Oh so sad. Dating truly does suck. I am so glad that I never have to go through that again.
Goodness, when I think that I am still in the dating arena, it scares me. Maybe Paige and I will be sobbing in our respective rooms at some point - cursing men.
That’s a scary thought.
