Paige: “Have you heard that song called, Tricky?”
Me: “You mean the one by Run DMC?”
Paige: “Who?”
Me: “Run DMC. It’s tricky to rock around, to rock around …”
Paige: “I LOVE THAT SONG.”
Me: “That song came out when I was a kid.”
Paige: “REALLY?”
Me: “Yeah, Reverend Run is that dad on the show Run’s House.”
Paige: “Nuh-uh. I LOVE that show.”
Me: “Yeah, he’s the RUN in RUN DMC.”
Paige: “Weird.”

That’s funny. My kids are also experiencing things that I experienced as a child. Except at their age range it’s all about My Little Pony, Hello Kitty, Hollie Hobbie, Transformers (you get the picture). sigh … I don’t think I’m ready for them to talk about older stuff, like rock music or “older kids” shows. I’m desperately holding on to their youth. I’ll be coming to you for advice on how to handle the teeny-bopper stuff.
SO FUNNY!!
and as a mom to a Toddler I cant wait to see what my version of this conv. will be!
The video was even better. How many hip hop videos today feature Penn & Teller?
It’s tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that’s right on time…
It was a good song. I think I went through that all with a half-sister who thought she invented goth. She wasn’t even alive when darkwave hit the scene. I’m -not- looking forward to this with my own kids.
