High Fives: 02/14/09

Love, glorious love. High fives all around:

  1. Oh the South Carolinian police must think they are very clever and funny. If you live in South Carolina and get a rose and a Best Buy gift card for Valentine’s Day, it might be a little suspect. And if you get SIX $100 Best Buy gift cards, you might want to do a background check on your significant other.
  2. Wondering what to listen to? NPR Music’s partner stations have pulled together a Make-Out Mix, which you can find streaming live right here.
  3. For those who don’t spend enough time online already I just found this 100 “must read” blogs by women list.
  4. The new redesign of the Kindle is making me want one. I love reading real books, but the thought of reading the New York Times on the bus via Kindle is really enticing. Perhaps I’ll hold out for the color version. It’s a matter of time.
  5. Cheers for Princess Amira al-Taweel, who shows some love and takes a risk by speaking out for women’s rights. A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step, right?

For those (like me) who don’t have a significant other, reach out and show some love today anyway.

And for those who read my blog (that’s you) here is a Valentine’s Day diddy for y’all:

  2. That is one of my all-time favorite songs. If we hadn’t eloped, my husband and I were going to use it for our postlude music at our wedding. Thanks for the 100 blog list…I think my google reader’s going to be getting a workout. I have to go check out the make-out mix now, if for nothing else than a giggle or two. :)

In the interest of full disclosure, please note that product links redirecting you to other sites such as Amazon, BlueHost, Freshbooks and OpenSky may take you a purchase page of a company where I am a member of an affiliate program. As a result, I will often get a small percentage of the revenue or a commission off of something you have purchased. I am not otherwise paid to link to these sites, nor do I link to any products that I don't actually use or covet in real life. On the rare occasion I accept payment to review a product, it will be duly noted in its associated post.

Have no fear - you are under no obligation to buy anything to get the full enjoyment of this site. We can still be friends even if you never click on an affiliate link. Rest assured, this is all low pressure. I will never show up at your door with tiny vials of Avon perfume or trial jars of pearl cream to entice you. That said, I do truly appreciate when you do purchase something from a linked site - it all helps to keep the lights on and a roof over our heads.
