Low Fives 02/22/09

Let’s not bullshit, let’s get down low:

  1. Official: Even chimps in tutus can be vicious.“Anytime I hear about stuff like this it makes me all cranky and pissed off. Please people, it’s inhumane to take a wild animal and subject it to tutu’s and diapers for your own enjoyment and pleasure. Gross.
  2. Speaking of chimpanzees. I cannot believe that NY Post published THAT cartoon. Even more ballsy was their apology: “There are some in the media and in public life who have had differences with The Post in the past – and they see the incident as an opportunity for payback. To them, no apology is due. Sometimes a cartoon is just a cartoon — even as the opportunists seek to make it something else.” Ugh.
  3. There is a whole site devoted to Asian jokes. Don’t ask me how I found this, but here it is. I was expecting to laugh as much as I did when I first saw this blog but ended up so sad when I realized that so many stereotypes applied to me.
  4. Abstinence is “not realistic.
  5. C’mon Mark Zuckerberg, people inherently don’t trust people who say “trust us.” The world calls bullshit on your stealthy under the radar changes in Facebook’s Terms of Service.

Watching this once will make you think that you are really quite normal. Any more than that and you’ll start thinking WTF?!?

  5. The Post cartoonist also would draw large monkey ears on GWBush…. no one called it racist or improperly disrespectful then. Why is it so much worse on Obama? Is he really this untouchable?

I don’t find this cartoonist amusing in the least, but I am concerned that since this instance attacks Pres. Obama, the artist is being torn apart… and when he drew GW Bush as a monkey, people said it was funny.

In the interest of full disclosure, please note that product links redirecting you to other sites such as Amazon, BlueHost, Freshbooks and OpenSky may take you a purchase page of a company where I am a member of an affiliate program. As a result, I will often get a small percentage of the revenue or a commission off of something you have purchased. I am not otherwise paid to link to these sites, nor do I link to any products that I don't actually use or covet in real life. On the rare occasion I accept payment to review a product, it will be duly noted in its associated post.

Have no fear - you are under no obligation to buy anything to get the full enjoyment of this site. We can still be friends even if you never click on an affiliate link. Rest assured, this is all low pressure. I will never show up at your door with tiny vials of Avon perfume or trial jars of pearl cream to entice you. That said, I do truly appreciate when you do purchase something from a linked site - it all helps to keep the lights on and a roof over our heads.
