Over the years I have collected all sorts of journals. It’s like an addiction, except I never finish filling any of them out (especially since I’ve started blogging). But it doesn’t matter, I collect them nonetheless.
I purchased both of these at the Barnes & Noble that’s about 6 blocks away from my house. If you don’t have a B&N locally, I’ve linked to where you can purchase them directly. Be forewarned, you might spend a whole hour looking at the entire collection of journals at ChronicleBooks.com.

Both of these were too cute to pass up. I gave the one on the left to Paige to use as a gratitude journal. Paige thinks that calling it a “gratitude” journal is cheesy (I’m not Oprah!) so she is calling hers an “appreciation” journal. Whatever.
Normally, I don’t think the insides of journals are cute, but the insides of these are just adorable! Don’t you think?

and

The “Never Forget” journal (the one with the elephant on it) is going to be for Paige too, but she doesn’t know it yet. I have decided to fill it up with quotes and poems (and illustrations) that I think she’ll like. It’ll be for some future Christmas gift or birthday gift, or maybe I’ll give it to her for no reason at all.
As you can tell, I’ve already started writing/drawing in it. The quote is one of Paige’s favorites from the movie Akeelah & The Bee:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
(It’s originally a quote from the book “A Return to Love” by Marianne Williamson.)
I know, I am a puddle of mush sometimes. Shhh … don’t tell anyone.

I love your journal for Paige…what a wonderful gift….what a wonderful mom.

What a sweet idea. Giving a journal is one thing, but filling it out takes it to a whole new level. Whenever you do decide to give it to her, she might be nonchalant at first, but I guarantee she’ll find it again some day and cherish it.

I too collect journals like mad. Those are too cute for words, despite the fact that that is their intended use.
Your drawing and lettering is awesome! I did not know you had this hidden talent! Jealous.

That gift is DEFINITELY a keeper!
Gorgeous journals! Thanks for the link. Also, I think you’ve picked an excellent gift to give to Paige for whenever you finish with it. I bet she’ll love it. =)
Idea:
You could print out your blog posts and paste them in a journal. Then expound on what was REALLY going on when you wrote the piece…so that you always have a hard copy of your blog entries, and the background behind them.
This way, handwriting would be minimal…I actually think I may try this myself.

Those journals are absolutely gorgeous! And yes, usually the inside of journals are not attractive, but utilitarian, but THESE! – these are wonderful!
I’ve always had the same feeling about journals as I do planners. I always want to buy them, but I have to keep telling myself that I will never use them! ‘Tis a shame, because there are some wonderfully beautiful ones out there!

Oh, those are so cute! I, too, collect journals. I have so many that I may never fill them up in my lifetime. But I buy them anyway. I would love to fill one out for my son, with stories about him from childhood. Maybe I will do that and hope that he enjoys it when he’s older.
