City Slicker to Country Pumpkins

Every year the Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie curates a collection of Jack O’ Lanterns and displays them all on the front porch of their historic building. It is incredibly charming and lovely and makes me want to just squeeze somebody’s cheeks to think that there’s a place where pumpkins can get displayed without fear of someone sneaking up in the middle of the night to roll the bunch down the nearest hill.

There are times that I feel like I am in a Disney flick or as many of you eluded to … an episode of the Gilmore Girls.

  1. Just embrace the whole Gilmore Girls thing and don’t cook! Just have some pop tarts and coffee handy and you are good to go!

I found you by accident and I really enjoy your blog. As a former single mom (10 years and then very happily remarried – worth the wait!) I alternately laugh, pray and sympathize with the small parts of your life you share.

    Good Luck!!

  2. Oh. My. GOD. You are TOTALLY an episode of the Gilmore Girls.

I’m horrified I didn’t think of that first.

  12. A rare place indeed!

We have to put our pumpkins INSIDE, in the front window, otherwise they’d likely be smashed.
