Review: Canon PIXMA MG6120

So a couple of months ago, the nice people at Canon offered to send me a Canon
PIXMA MG6120 printer. Given that the last printer that I purchased was back during the
pre-Cambrian period, a new one was not only necessary, but really, really appreciated. If
you are like me, purchasing a printer comes right after cleaning underneath the kitchen
stove in level of priority.

When you’ve had an old clunky printer around the house for close to 10 years – You
don’t know, what you don’t know. And I definitely didn’t know, what I didn’t know. It’s
been two months and the Canon Pixma Printer as made my life all kinds of better. I had
never realized how much my old printer was really just a dust collector. I scan things
now. I print. I make copies. It’s pretty ridiculous. Having the new printer is like going from
black and white to Technicolor. Or in my case, like going from dot matrix to Technicolor.
I think it’s swell.

Not to sound too sales-y – but the PIXMA Printer is incredibly intuitive to use because
of the Intelligent Touch interface. I didn’t ever have to open a manual to figure out how
to print something. It was super easy to set up. In addition, the quality of the printing is
amazing. I actually print photos on the PIXMA MG6120. With photo paper, the quality is
comparable to anything you’d typically get professionally printed for you. And thanks to
Vickie’s flower pot/frame craft – I’ve been inspired to start collecting thrift store frames,
refurbishing them and printing out all the photos that I’ve been meaning to hang around
the house. It’s the perfect project for this winter.

Along with the printer, the nice people at Canon also sent me a PowerShot SD4500 IS
digital camera. Paige has already confiscated it. She says I don’t need another camera.
I beg to differ. I don’t have a camera that takes HD videos. I don’t have a camera that
is small enough to stick in my pocket. Sadly, I haven’t even had a chance to take many
pictures or video footage with it. The PIXMA printer comes with software which allows
you to scroll through video footages and print out photos directly from any frame that
you select. I’ve been meaning to try it, but I’d have to pry the camera from my teenager’s
hands.

Yeah, you try doing that.

  2. Giyen, I must be a bad blogger; Canon has not called me, nor sent cool stuff. [Tom Pouting].

Actually that’s okay, because I’m drafting my next blog entry just in case: “THE NICE PEOPLE OF JAGUAR OFFERED…”
