Down With Television & Still A Slack-ah

Saturday, December 6th, 2008

Okay, okay, many of you might be sick of seeing these Momversations, but they [meaning those Momversation people] like us all to link to the shows and honestly, I enjoy them so I hope you do too. I still have not shot a video yet, but most likely we’ll see something in the next week or so. As they say in television … stay tuned.

I have been a bad blogger since Thanksgiving. I really would like to post Monday – Friday for consistency sake, but right now, I am feeling neither clever or verbose. Here are  some quick updates on what is going on:

I canceled my cable subscription because I could justify paying $100 a month to watch Biggest Loser, The John Stewart Show and MSNBC. I basically can watch these online for free. The rest of the stuff I watch is purely incidental and could probably be found elsewhere on the interwebs.

I am trying my hand at designing a site using Drupal. To all those folks out there wondering what Drupal is, it’s basically a content management system that is used to manage sites like this and this. This is my version of geekspeek. Really, I don’t know what I am doing.

I am working on a couple of other blog projects. Yes! More blogs! I started a Seattle Post Intelligencer Blog and am officially a PI-Reader Blogger. My blog isn’t up yet because they don’t start promoting it unless I have a little bulk built up in the content. The other blog project is one that is still in development in my head, but I’ll let you know when the details are all aligned and the site all purdy and ready to go.

Oh yeah, that training for the 5k thing? Totally derailed. I am not ready. I’ve been hitting the gym but still not training hard enough to do the 5k so I am bailing. I am, however, still putting my money where my mouth is and am sponsoring Andrew’s team. I think I was watching too many episode of Biggest Loser and thought that I could go from fat to fit in a short amount of time. I’m not going to put myself down though, my blood-pressure has gone down to near the border (even with the Thanksgiving derailment and meltdown) and I feel much better. I am going to keep moving forward.

Okay, off to start my Saturday. Peace & Love.

Are You There God? It’s Me Bacon.

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

An Open Letter to God,

It’s precisely 10:24 pm on a Wednesday evening and I am pilfering through today’s top news stories which include:

  1. Palin and her $150k new wardrobe.
  2. Battle of the Robo-calls.
  3. Most Californians oppose Gay marriage.

I’ve got to tell you that this election cycle is killing me.  Literally, it’s killing me.  Every time I hear that the polls are “within a margin of error” I want to eat 5 Big Macs so I can die sooner and be put out of my misery.  Really.  Some of my fellow Americans are threatening to leave Earth if a certain someone get’s elected.  Leave Earth … can we do that? Where do I reserve my seat? Should I pack for hot or cold weather?

God, there really aren’t enough antacids to help me through the next two weeks. I can’t take another article about Sarah Palin’s red shoes or how her flag pin is as large as a child’s fist.  Can’t you do something about this?  And please, with all due respect, I don’t need something like an economic crisis or a Madonna and Guy Ritchie divorce to get my mind off of the election. Forget that. I know you think you’re doing us a favor by creating a diversion but what we really need is to stop feeling like we are on the verge of throwing up every time a new poll comes out. (more…)
